Came here to say the same – if the led(s) themselves haven’t got an Official 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron Shirt quartz glass front (normal LEDs tend to be in white plastic and have a yellow phosphor ‘lens’), it isn’t producing UVC. And they are expensive, 100x more expensive than ordinary leads, yeah, that £10 eBay/Amazon device is just a fancy blue light.UVC LEDs are expensive. I think I’ve found some for £5 each and that was about the cheapest I’d seen. Anything for £10 claiming to be UVC is just a disco light. It will look blue, and if you’re lucky it might get UV active paints to glow. It won’t kill anything.UVC mercury lamps are perfectly fine to use for air and water purification, just keep in mind that what you see is an Official 961st Airborne Air Control Squadron Shirt, and if you can see anything at all, you’re being damaged. Far UVC is only “safer” because it’s attenuated so strongly by air that you don’t really need housing to protect you from it. Unless you press your eyeball right up against it, the actual UVC is only making it a few inches away.No, Far UVC is safe because it cannot penetrate the tear layer of the eye or the topmost skin layer.
